Compare the booking route
- Artist agency: discuss its roster, the artist’s availability and any booking or coordination services you need.
- Entertainment company: ask which performer is proposed, what the performance includes and whether equipment is part of the offer.
- Booking platform: check who accepts the booking, provides the contract and answers practical questions.
- Direct artist or management contact: agree the performance terms and identify who will coordinate production and travel.
Use the same event brief for each enquiry. That helps you compare the actual artist, fee, duration and responsibilities, without assuming that one provider type is always cheaper or more comprehensive.
When an agency may fit your request
An agency is a route to explore when you want a particular artist or would like programming advice. Ask whether the artist is represented by that agency and whether the request is possible for your date. If you need travel or production coordination, state that separately. Agree who handles each task and which costs belong in the quote.
For the contract discussion, clarify the fee, performance time, payment arrangements, cancellation terms and responsibilities. Ask for explanations of unclear terms before confirming. A provider’s service description is not a substitute for the terms of your own booking.
